BLOCK KIDS
Description:
Block Kids is a K-6th grade program that we put on every fall to spark construction interest in youngsters. The students are given construction paper, Legos, string, and aluminum foil to create a structure. We also bring in other trades, giving the students an opportunity to have some hands-on experience in; plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drafting, and fire protection. If you love hanging out with a bunch of kids and teaching them things about construction, then this is the committee for you!
Time Dedication:
The Block Kids Committee requires a couple hours a month in late summer/early fall and then slightly more time as the event approaches.

bUDGET/aUDIT
Description:
We are the committee that reviews the finances of our Chapter! This includes responsibilities of both budgeting and auditing every year.
Budgeting Responsibilities: Prepare and monitor the chapter budget. The outgoing and incoming Treasurers are encouraged to be a part of this committee. The committee will prepare a budget at the beginning of the year based on historical spending and with input from the various committee chairs and board members. It is important to remember that a budget is a plan, not a hard and fast rule. Budgets can be modified during the year if situations come up that warrant a change. The committee should try to present a balanced budget, keeping in mind the rules for how money can be spent based on the source of income. Members of the committee should also carefully review the Treasurer's report each month and ask for clarification on anything that seems out of sorts.
Auditing Responsibilities: Require at least 2 members. The outgoing Treasurer may not be part of the auditing process. They will supply their records of the previous year to be audited. The incoming Treasurer is encouraged to be part of this committee as they can learn valuable insight into how things were handled in the past. The committee will review the Treasurer's records to verify accuracy and compare the actual to budget amounts. They may ask the Treasurer for clarification of any irregularities or overages of any budgeted amounts. Members of the committee should also carefully review the Treasurer's report each month and ask for clarification on anything that seems out of sorts.
Time Dedication:
Budgeting is about 2-3 hours at the beginning of the year, then 1 hour meetings 2 or 3 times during the year to review the budget.
Auditing is about 1.5 - 3 hours, once a year.
